Bartending

This 15-week certificate program offers the highest level of professional five-star service training for bartenders entering the food and beverage service sector in the hospitality industry. There is a continual need for qualified bartenders, though bartending industry is a demanding one which could involve long hours and shift work.

The program consists of instruction in the principles and practices of sound bar management. The curriculum is divided between theory and hands-on experience in bar laboratories and an established bar, restaurant or nightclub.

Sommelier

This Sommelier certificate program taught at HEC's prestigious Wine Lab is for all who are interested in enhancing their knowledge of wine in order to work in the hospitality or wine and spirit industry. Wine knowledge has become an important tool in every aspect of the hospitality industry and the demand for trained wine professionals has risen dramatically.
The goal of this program is to develop well-rounded and knowledgeable sommeliers. Students taste a wide variety of and major grape varieties, viticulture, and viniculture of the important growing areas of the world are studied. The curriculum also covers the theoretical and practical aspects of food and wine matching, cellaring tips, marketing techniques, wine list development, and the proper service of wine.
